About Course

The “Doctrine of Perfection” course is a comprehensive, 37-lesson study course defining the subject of perfection in the Scriptures.  It is a principle that has been feared, misunderstood, and frankly not taught correctly and this course seeks to soundly teach this subject once and for all.   In Hebrews 6:1, Paul clearly states “let us go on unto perfection.”

Perfection in most of our minds speaks of something super-spiritual or acting like superman or something like that.  This is not what God means by perfection nor what the Scriptures mean.  It is simply means “completion, going on to maturity.”  As a matter of fact, a good translation of Hebrews 6:1 is, “let us go on instead and become mature in our understanding.”  Therefore, perfection is all about maturing in Christ Jesus as Paul said in Colossians 1:28, “that we may present every man perfect in Christ Jesus.”  The Old Testament reads, “Thou shalt be perfect with the Lord thy God” (Deuteronomy 18:13).  Jesus said in Matthew 5:48, “Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect.”  With this in mind, the six main goals of this course are:

    • To define perfection properly and understand that it is a sound Biblical principle
    • To understand that perfection is an attainable goal as David said in Psalms 138:8, “The Lord will perfect that which concerneth me…
    • To teach the way to perfection and being conformed to the image of Jesus
    • To understand the purpose of perfection as it relates to God appearing in a people in the last days.
    • To define the Order of Melchisedec, God’s perfected priesthood
    • To teach with absolute assurance that God will have a people that will walk free from sin one day and triumph over the flesh

God bless you as you study this course, the last in our foundational doctrine series. May the Spirit of revelation open this truth to you more and more.  Brother Sam’s heart’s prayer is that it helps you, as Philippians 3:14 exhorts, keep pressing “toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.

This course is broken into four sections: Defining Biblical Perfection, Image & Glory, Order of Melchisedec, and God Triumphing Over Our Flesh.

God Triumphing Over Our Flesh
This is a bonus section on a series of messages out of Psalms 60:8, "Moab is my washpot; over Edom will I cast out my shoe: Philistia, triumph though because of me." In verse 7, we find the phrase as well, "Judah is my lawgiver." Within this Scripture lies a great principle of how God will cause us to triumph over our flesh as we go on unto perfection, beginning with "Moab is my washpot." This speaks of God even using the very sin and issues in our lives to wash us of these very iniquities.
