  1. For 30 years, Brother “Papa” Sam has been an intimate part of my journey through this world and was the key that opened the door for me to have an intimate walk with Jesus. He’s been a father to me in the spirit and in the natural.

I met him when I was a senior in high school. He prayed for me to receive the baptism of the Holy Spirit. He facilitated my water baptism. He married my husband and I. He led us in an intimate homegoing service for our little baby boy, Judah. He dedicated our miracle baby, Calah. He ordained us into the ministry. Every milestone in my life, he was there.

I had the opportunity to live with his family for almost 2 years when I was single and in my early 20’s. Some of my favorite memories of him are from that time. Once, we watched a movie and he made everyone get up and dance to the music during the credits. Another time, he saw my notes from Bible College sitting on the table. When he noticed how I’d written/ organized them, he opened his wallet and gave me cash because he was astonished I could do such a thing. That still makes me giggle. There were times I caught the brunt of his peculiarities like when I’d leave my shoes in a pile by the front door. (Honestly, now that I’m older and have my own home, I can’t blame him for that one). I was also “talked to” by him because I was freezing one night and slept with a beanie and gloves because I didn’t dare touch the thermostat. When he found out, he told me to never be that cold in his house again. I’m going to miss the nuances of his personality. Any time I see Charlie Brown or toy soldiers, I think of him, and always will.

What I’m most grateful for are the eternal truths he introduced, taught, discipled, and dare I say drilled into me. I doubt I’d ever know Jesus as my first love, my Bridegroom, my Beloved, my Husband if it weren’t for Sam. He taught me how to lead worship and how to search the Scriptures. These are skills I’ll utilize all the days of my life. Watching his generosity has been a humbling and learning experience. I shudder to think where I’d be if it weren’t for Brother Sam’s influence in my life. God knew what He was doing when He assigned Sam Greene to be my Papa. Grateful is an understatement, but there are no human words to express my gratitude for God divinely orchestrating this relationship.

Thank you, Papa, for laying down your life for me. My life is forever dedicated to seeing a smile on Jesus’ face every day and filling His nostrils with incense, His ears with worship, and His cup to overflowing . . . because of you.

  2. A Tribute to a Faithful Apostle and Teacher

Today we remember a man who walked among us as both friend and spiritual father- a true apostle in the Lord’s house and a gifted Bible teacher whose words carried the weight of heaven and the practical wisdom of everyday life. He poured himself out for people across the world, ministering not only to the spirit but to the whole person. Many of us are living proof of the fruit of his labor: lives changed, minds renewed and faith made real.

He taught us the Word with clarity and power, yet his greatest lessons were often lived more than spoken. One of the most precious truths he left us is this: come before God as yourself. Not as a version others expect. Not as the polished performance that wins approval. Just as you are. He refused the trap of people-pleasing and invited us to do the same; to stand honest and free in the presence of the One who already knows us completely and still chooses us.

To every student, every follower, every person whose life he touched: His race is finished, but the assignment he carried is not. The same spirit who anointed him remains with you. The same Word he taught still speaks. The same freedom he modeled-to be real before God- is still available. Honor him best by continuing to walk in what he showed you. Keep studying. Keep praying. Keep showing up as yourself. Keep loving people both spiritually and practically, the way he did.

He leaves behind more than memories. He leaves a legacy in the people he raised up. May we carry it well.

Rest well, faithful servant. Your work remains, and so does the love of the One you served so well.

  3. The 19 years I sat under Sam were the most glorious years of my life. I was exceedingly blessed to be in a real move of God, a visitation that lasted for years that Sam fathered. I remember how gentle & patient he was in teaching us line upon line the foundational principles that were gloriously revelatory. The Song of Solomon, Face to face communion, running the race to obtain the prize, the ways of God and countless other teachings were life changing. Sam taught me that often our greatest disappointments are God’s appointments. I am eternally grateful to Jesus & Sam.

  4. I first met Brother Sam in 1998 when he was pastoring a church in Drexel NC. When he moved to Florida and started the church and Bible School he would still come to NC and do teachings in Lincolnton. I would drive from my college in Boone to hear him preach every time he was there. It was in one of those meetings he prophesied that there was a place for me in Jacksonville and God was calling me there. I sat under Sam’s teachings in the Bible School for 8 years (2001-2009) gaining the spiritual foundation he stressed was so important for believers to have to be firmly planted in their faith (Ephesians 4:14-15). It is through Pastor Sam and the Bible College I gained spiritual maturity, eternal surety, and became rooted and grounded in the scriptures through his teachings (Colossians 2:7).
Pastor Sam travelled to Blowing Rock NC from Jacksonville to officate my wedding in 2005 even though he was having a health issue at the time. That is the selfless loving father that he was. My own biological father didn’t attend my wedding but Sam was there, not only as my pastor but as the father that I needed when mine had failed me. It was a true Psalm 68:5 moment but it wasn’t just me that was able to experience that in Pastor Sam. He was father to all of the Narrow Way family and had a true father’s heart for everyone that even stretched across continents.
I left Jacksonville in 2009 against my wishes to move back to NC. I shed many tears about losing that vital spiritual connection with Pastor Sam and the body of believers in Jacksonville. It was like having a limb cut off. Thankfully limbs can be re-attached and this happened in 2020 when I realized Narrow Way services/teachings were accessible via Facebook. PRAISE GOD!!! I began following Brother Sam and the Narrow Way family through Facebook and that spiritual connection I needed was restored.
    Jeremiah 3:15
I will give you shepherds after my own heart, who will lead you with knowledge and understanding. That was Pastor Sam. He leaves behind a true legacy and imprint on our lives that we are left to carry forward as the remnant he has ushered us in to being.
The picture I have included is not one of my wedding but one of many weddings he has officated.

We join many friends and fellow believers in Bolivia and across the nations in honoring the memory of Brother Sam Greene. As a family, we are deeply saddened by the passing of this “man of God” whom we knew so well. He was the one who taught us to search the Scriptures, to worship the Father in spirit and in truth, and to seek the hidden treasures within the heart of our Lord Jesus. Led by the Holy Spirit, he prophesied that I would meet the woman of God meant for my life—to whom I have now been married for ten years; he prophesied the birth of my first daughter, who is now eight; and he prophesied that my marriage would impact nations (something we have seen come to pass over the last four years). He also established a ministry in Bolivia of which I have been a part for over fourteen years. He taught us about the Feasts of the Lord: Passover, Unleavened Bread, Firstfruits, Pentecost, Trumpets, the Day of Atonement, and the great final Feast of Tabernacles. It is beautiful to see how he departed for the heavenly tabernacle precisely during the full moon of the seventh biblical month—marking the beginning of the very feast he longed to see in his heart. He departed during the Feast of Tabernacles to now complete his heavenly dwelling alongside the Beloved of his heart: Jesus!

Through the work he carried out in ministry in Bolivia and other nations, I was able to meet and connect with the beautiful Body of Christ—and now become a part of it. I can see tremendous men and women of God doing the same: extending the Kingdom of Heaven on earth and restoring all things for the return of our Father. The legacy Brother Sam left among the nations fulfills a deep desire of his heart: how would he be remembered when he departed to be in the presence of the Lord? I believe a tree is known by its fruit, and there is already much fruit honoring the memory of our dear Sam Greene. We bless his entire family and pray that the spirit of comfort fills their hearts.

  6. His purity for the gospel and willingness to speak God’s truth regardless of what that was compelled me to want a walk like that. Brother Sam came and spoke at The Father’s Way church in Warrenton, VA probably 10 or more years ago. He gave a powerful message and then prophesied. He was giving emcouraging words to many, then came to me – and gave a word of direction instead of gentle kindness…I was startled as I felt similar to a woman there who was going through deep loneliness and difficulty as a single parent (I, the same). For her it was compassion and loving kindness with hope for a partner. Them to me he spoke the word of the Lord, as well – but it was “stop feeling sad about these things and start focusing on what’s important (kingdom). You’ve got work to do” or something of that nature. It was exhortation and stern…I was shocked (in a good way) since we literally were both in very similar ways, but the other woman obviously had a different call and the Lord wanted me digging deeply in kingdom work and not worrying about my feelings and *perceived needs* – right after telling another he understood her feelings and needs…I almost fell over. I can laugh about it now. God had a mighty purpose for me and life with a husband wasn’t the focus I needed, regardless of my inner experience. ❤️

I purchased his Call to Aloneness and two other books… his wisdom and depth impacted my life greatly and really pushed me to change my focus from what I was facing and struggling with to what was needed for the Kingdom!

  7. I have known Brother Sam since the 1990s. From the first encounter, he proved to be a veritable spiritual giant in the Lord, flowing in all spiritual gifts and many ministerial offices, including pastor, teacher, prophet, and apostle. Nonetheless, he was a man of surprising extremes–profound yet humble, direct yet compassionate, pensive yet joyous, and spiritually prominent yet giving of himself in rare manner, often to his own hurt. I first heard him teach at my then-home church in the Northern Virginia area and hung onto his every Word. He uncompromisingly preached truth, spiritual revelation, and doctrine like none I had heard before. I looked forward to his visits where his repeated prophecies to me were life-changing and spot-on and unfailingly came to past. Back then, I could not sit under his daily teachings but nonetheless repeatedly reviewed his manuals and tapes collected from his infrequent visits. God kept him in the backdrop of my life over the years as I unexpectedly was able to visit his church in the Jacksonville area and attended conferences in my area whenever he came to town. We reconnected for good during the pandemic when I located his ministry online and remotely joined the NWMIN family under his spiritual fathering. Now retired, I daily benefit from his Bible School and prolific writings and truly believe I have learned more in the past five years than in 30+ years of my spiritual walk. What an honor to be ordained and commissioned by this great man of God! What a privilege to share what I have learned from him in a Bible study under his auspices and to have him come visit! What a blessing to call him my spiritual father, mentor, and guide! He’s now gone on to his reward and our precious Jesus, but his teachings, legacy, example, and spiritual impartation will live on. Thank you and farewell for now, Papa Sam! You are sorely missed but never forgotten and I look forward to seeing again you in eternity. Much love forever!

  8. Papa ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
For me Papa Sam is and has been my answered prayer. I first met Papa Sam in 2013 when He came to Zambia for the conference in Livingstone, He prophesied to me that what I was about to do that week would set the course for the rest of my life. I didn’t even know what was about to happen… but surely what happened that week did set the course for my life. I saw God with me all my days…later on I had a rough patch of my life for some time, no hope, but kept on praying, trusting God and listening to the Word that He taught through the recordings and this one thing is what kept me. For me to be alive literary is because of Papa Sam’s obedience to God, the word He taught and the worship sustained me and keeps sustaining me to date. Papa came back to Zambia in 2023, at this time that I needed him most, God used Him to save my life and my family, to restore my life, restore joy, hope, peace, happiness, sanity to my life and my family. To date the word of God he has taught gives life to me. He may not be here physically but he lives here everyday. His teachings still bring me life and keep me, He has planted an eternal seed in my life, as the Bible says “one thing is needful and it shall not be taken away from you”. I have come to know and experience the presence of God because of Him. Papa, I love you very much. I know one day we shall be together in Glory, I know you are with Him -Jesus, we miss you so much but truly Heaven has gained. A selfless man full of love. Thank you for planting God in me, thank you thank you thank you. Am eternally grateful. Whatever I am and whatever I will ever gain in God is all because of you Papa Sam. You poured yourself out, sacrificed your life for us to receive God. Thank you thank you thank you. Words are not enough to express, thank you for bearing fruit beyond yourself. Glory to God in the highest – Jesus is Precious ❤️❤️❤️❤️

  9. As Sam’s assistant for over twenty years, helping him write, travel, and minister to God’s precious people over this glorious span, my heart is overwhelmed reflecting on the goodness of the Lord through Sam’s life. As one that knew him as much as anybody, I saw firsthand his sacrifice, his heart for every single disciple, his desire to take as many people as he can into the glory of God. He was the best pastor, father in the Lord, and friend I could’ve asked for. He was the man God used to open the eternal doors to Zion to me. He was the man who imparted the spirit of revelation into my life through daily teachings. He was the man who showed me the calling of the bride. He was the man who showed me to love sheep and spoke the truth to me whether I wanted to hear it because he truly cared for me. Here is a picture of me and my twin brother Martin traveling the nations with Sam. What memories and what a glorious seed lives in us as sons and daughters now as we continue this work, making disciples of the nations bringing people into the revealed glory of God like Sam did to us for decades! Jesus is Precious! Miss you Papa!

  10. There is so much to be said about brother Sam… I remember one time he and I went to dinner to fellowship with one another. We laughed a lot (he was absolutely hilarious) and afterwards we went to his house to smoke a cigar on his balcony. It was there that I asked him some deeper questions about the Scriptures and he told me his doctrine on eternal judgment. I was shocked with what he told me, it was contrary to everything I’ve been told. Brother Sam broke the mold… he fought fiercely against false doctrine and religion and wasn’t afraid in the least. He was a mountain of a man physically and spiritually and I am honored to have known him and called him Papa. He is no doubt leading worship at the feet of King Jesus right now!

  11. I’ve known Papa Sam since 1987. He would come and minister at our church in Kernersville, NC. It was because of Sam and his ability to take us right into the Glory with his worship that I learned to play guitar. I wanted to worship like him and have the Glory every day. Papa Sam has had so much impact on my life as well as my family. We miss him. We are all so grateful to have had him impart to us all that was in him. The picture is of my wife and I being ordained.
