The Valley Experience

“The Valley Experience” examines the valley experience found in Scripture.  When the Scriptures speak of a valley, it is not speaking of a natural phenomenon but it is speaking of a principle or an experience that we as Christians must go through.  Moreover, it is in these valley experiences that we get a greater understanding of God’s ways and His purpose for our lives.  Many times, the Lord allows in His wisdom what He could prevent with His power for a greater purpose in our lives.  He allows us to go through valley experiences because in that time of desperation we learn to find Jesus, the “lily of the valleys” (Song of Solomon 2:1), and change for the better.  Many Christians go through tribulations and are ignorant that it could very well be part of the plan of God.  For example, in Mark 4:17 Jesus said, “affliction or persecution ariseth for the word’s sake.”  In other words, God uses affliction to work His Word into our lives.  

There are many different valleys with tremendous lessons for all of us.  Therefore, the valley represents something other than a natural hole in the earth.  Each represent a different experience that we all go through.  It is part of the dealings of God in our walk with Him as we “press towards the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus,” (Philippians 3:14).  There is much revelation in the Scripture about the different valley experiences.  It is not enough to just have an understanding of these valleys.  God wants us to overcome in our own personal valleys.  Our revelation must be married to situation.   With that in mind, the four main goals of this course:

• Define the principle of valleys in Scripture and how they relate to our lives today
• List the different valleys in Scripture and give their  unique significance and revelation
• Teach how to take these principles and apply them to our lives
• Emphasize the importance of overcoming in these valleys as God’s people prepare for the glory being revealed in the last days

This course is broken into 18 messages, 16 messages that were taught originally when the course was created, plus 2 bonus messages that were published into a small book called “Digging in the Valley” which can be purchased on our website separately in print format. 

For each valley, there is so much to say and so much more that can be said than what is presented here.  As you study to show yourself approved, may the Spirit of revelation open up this glorious principle of the valley experience, teach you to overcome in your personal valleys in life, as the Lord promises, “every valley shall be exalted” (Isaiah 40:4), and walk away changed and more like Jesus!
